YouthRoots is a leadership development nonprofit that teaches high school students how to impact their communities through the experiential classroom of philanthropy. Each YouthBoard is composed of 15-20 students who complete a three-step philanthropic process together (Community Needs Assessment, Fundraising, and Grant-making). Embedded in this process are 16 leadership development sessions. YouthRoots participants make a huge impact on their community today while learning the skills to enact positive change in our world tomorrow. The RAISE (Raising Awareness and Inhibiting Stigma Everywhere) program uses our proven program structure but adds an umbrella focus of mental health. Students learn about the complexity of mental health issues, different ways of addressing mental health needs, and work to tackle the stigma associated with mental health.
