Alumni Action Fund
OVERVIEW
YouthRoots alumni leave our programs with the skills to change the world. They’re out there everyday working on grassroots community impact projects. The Alumni Action Fund was created to help give them access to much needed resources to maximize their impact in whatever area they’re doing work, whether it be racial justice, education, or homelessness.
The Alumni Action Fund awards $500 to recipients to support their community impact work. Are you a YouthRoots alum with a project, program, or an idea? Apply here for money to launch, catalyze, run, or grow your community impact work.
Money will be awarded to individuals for the purpose of advancing their community impact work. Recipients do not need to have 501(c)(3) status.
Eligibility
- Must be a YouthRoots alum.
- Must be doing community impact work.
- You can apply for multiple projects, but you can only receive a maximum of 1 $500 award each calendar year.
- Projects must be based in the US.
How it Works
- Submit an application – applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
- A team of YouthRoots alumni, volunteers, and staff will review your application and select projects to receive funding – The number of recipients will be dependent on available funding.
- If your project is selected for funding, we’ll send you a check. Use the funds for the project outlined in your application.
- Applications that we are not able to immediately fund will stay open in our system for the duration of the project. We will do our best to match all projects with funders.
- We’ll reach out in 2-3 months to check in. We love updates!
Examples of Projects that Could Be Funded
- Paying for a venue for a campus event to encourage voter registration
- Your time to create a podcast on racial inequities in your community
- Purchasing supplies for families struggling with housing stability
- Cost to develop a website for a reforestation initiative
